My Favourite Place

Now this might sound strange to a lot of people, maybe familiar to some...

To be specific, my favourite Place in the House is...................wait for it.......................

The TOILET and/or The Bathroom! 

I have lived in quite a few properties. In my short life (lol), I have movedaround quite a lot. So when I say the toilet is my favourite place, I do not mean it is my favourite place right now. It is my favourite place full stop. There are obviously some toilets I DO NOT enter. Especially public toilets, so I am not generalising all toilets. Just the ones in the place I call HOME.

A toilet to me is the most intimate place in the house. It is where we do something so private and personal. It is the only place we do what we dare not do in front of someone else. That aside, going to the toilet is sometimes the only time during the day that I have my me-time. I have some quiet time in there - or at least I try to. I do get the odd banging on the door, "Mummy, what are you doing" (well, duh!), "Mummy where are you", "Mummy, I want to tell you something", "Mummy, its important", and my personal favourite... "Mummy, I want to use the toilet now"! Now, I know I do spend an awful amount of time in there but I always ensure it is when my kids are in bed. I can't be idle in the toilet when my kids are out there unsupervised! Of course not. There is a time and a place.

I remember years ago, my mum made that comment and told a guest that they should use the toilet first because once I go in, I might be there for a while. She never saw it as a problem. She just thought I loved the ambience of the toilet. Contrary to what most people think, the toilet, especially ones personal toilet is the cleanest place in the house. Why you would ask? Well, you are constantly cleaning, disinfecting, scrubbing, washing, bleaching all that pertains to the toilet. You keep it in check because you know that otherwise, it will not be a pretty sight. Besides, if you don't, you are potentially inviting all manners of germs into your environment. And most people I know, wash their hands immediately after the use the toilet.

Now an adult, I still love the toilet and/or bathroom but now I am able to decipher Why? Why do I love staying in there for so long? Most times, I am idle. I am not doing anything peculiar. And most times, I am not doing the thing that everyone out there thinks I am doing. I am thinking. I am listening to my inner spirit, I am meditating (somewhat), I am using my heart as well as my head in there. I am carefully planning out my next move. The toilet and/or bathroom, is the only place where I think productively and positively.

When I go to the toilet and/or bathroom, my thoughts are ordered and well organised. Most decisions I have made in  my life, have been made in the toilet. Most of my life choices and mind-blowing ideas have been birthed in a toilet. Clearly, I don't schedule appointments to go into the toilet to think about something. It  is  not a premeditated act to go into the toilet simply to think thoughts. Lol. But that's just me. It is what I love to do. Toilets.. clean ones... all the way.
