The Healing Word - Joyce Meyer

God loves you. And because He loves you, He wants the best for your life—restoration and wholeness. That’s why Jesus Christ willingly laid down His life, died, and rose again. His sacrifice has provided the way for us to find and experience the healing and restoration we need.

God has a plan for your life, and He wants to heal you everywhere you hurt. John 10:10 says that Jesus came to give us abundant life, and part of that abundant life is making sure you are healthy and whole—physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
But the truth is you cannot “catch” health like you can disease. For example, if you're around somebody who has a cold, you don't have to do anything to catch it. You can get it by just by being around them because that's the nature of sickness and disease. But you can be around a healthy person and you won’t catch their health. You have to choose health.

Choose Life

One of the ways we can choose life is through prayer and by speaking His truth over our lives. I want to help you do that. You can speak these scriptures and confessions over your life to strengthen your faith in God for the healing and wholeness you need.
Think about it like this: If I have a headache, I take an aspirin to get relief from it. I have to swallow the pill for it to work. If I put it on top of my head, it won’t do anything for me. God’s Word is medicine for our spirit, soul and body, and the way we experience its power is by speaking it out loud, praying it to God, meditating on it, and believing it. When you speak His Word over your life, it releases that power into your life. It won’t work for us if we just have a Bible and leave it on the shelf. We have to use it.
God wants to make you whole, and what He’s asking you to do is believe what His Word says more than you believe what you think or how you feel. Keep speaking His Word over your circumstances and in His timing, He'll complete the good work He's begun in you!

Applying the Medicine of God’s Word

Depending on your situation, one or more of these scriptures or confessions may apply to a need you are facing right now. Take time to read them, meditate on them, pray them, and memorize the verses that will encourage you to trust God for the healing you need. Or write them down on a note card and carry them with you so you have them on hand wherever you are, whenever you need them.
If the scriptures you need aren’t listed here, search them out in the Bible and make them your confession. As you do, you’ll be amazed at how God’s Word will give you more of the abundant life you can have in Christ, and you’ll experience the wholeness and healing it brings.

More Promises from God’s Word About Healing:

Psalm 30:2
O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me.
Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
Psalm 107:20
He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction.
Isaiah 58:8
Then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness (your rightness, your justice, and your right relationship with God) shall go before you [conducting you to peace and prosperity], and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Psalm 34:15, 17
The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.
Psalm 46:1
God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.
John 10:10
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

Nigerian Born, Dr Samuel Achilefu Wins Award For Developing CancerVisualising Glasses

Celebrating excellence!
What an awesome achievement! Congratulations!!!!!
A NIGERIAN-born scientist, Dr. Samuel Achilefu, has won the prestigious St. Louis Award for 2014 for creating cancer-visualising glasses.
Achilefu, a professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering, and his team developed the imaging technology in cancer diagnosis into a wearable night vision-like goggles so that surgeons could see the cancer cells while operating.
“They basically have to operate in the dark,” Bloomberg Businessweek quoted Achilefu, 52, as saying.
According to Bloomberg, the researchers’ technology requires two steps: First, surgeons inject a tiny quantity of an infrared fluorescent marker into the patient’s bloodstream. The peptides contained in the marker enable it to locate cancer cells and buries itself inside.
After the tracer flows through a patient’s body and clears from non-cancerous tissue – which lasts about four hours – the operation would begin. Wearing the goggle, the doctor can inspect tumours under an infrared light that reacts with the dye, causing cancer cells to glow from within.
This month, the goggles have been used on humans for the first time by surgeons at the Washington University School of Medicine.
Four patients suffering from breast cancer and over two dozens patients with melanoma or liver cancer have been operated on using the goggles since they were developed.
A surgical oncologist, who is collaborating with Achilefu to improve on the technology, Ryan Fields, said: “The goggles function fantastically. They allow us to see the cells in real time, which is critical. Because the marker has not yet been FDA-approved, doctors are currently using a different, somewhat inferior marker that also reacts with infrared light.”
Achilefu, who says he intends to keep Washington University as the primary centre for clinical trials to evaluate the technology in patients, said: “Making a difference in society should be the goal of everybody.”

Awesometastic Day

Summer's here!!!!! Whoop whoop. Today was another awesometastic day for the kids I just have to share.

It started off as just another day, dropped my first at school, on our way to drop G2, we bumped into our former child minder, we took her to nursery, went home to get ready and then took G3 to the fire station, picked up G2 from nursery and then took her to the park for her play date with her best friend Cassidy. It was so much fun and she was certainly on a sugar high after all that slush and then ice cream. The weather was so perfectly hot and breezy the kids were in their zone. I could personally feel all my belly fat melting away that's for sure!

Picked up G1 from school, popped into Sainsburys to get our dinner ingredients, finally went home to take a cold-ish shower (all of us), dinner and now bed!

Glory to God!

Here's to many more days like this!

Meat and Vegetable Skewers Galore

Another food post guys!

So yesterday I remembered a cool trick my mum used to feed my three little picky eaters. She put some green peppers, mushrooms, chicken and lamb on the skewers and served it with rice and sauce. So yesterday I was feeling inspired! Bearing in mind I like a no fuss dinner, I had to mentally prepare this meal in my head before purchasing my ingredients and my skewers. I am not too much of a chef but I'm my kids personal culinary artist and all they want is to eat something yummy from mummy. I even got them to make some themselves! It was a special bonding time for us. Forget the presentation, this was the bees knees, my kids kept licking their fingers and asking for more. It was a success!

Here are the ingredients:-

1. Chicken breast (I cooked this first before adding to the skewers)
2. Red peppers (without the seeds)
3. Red onions
4. Prawns
5. Chorizo

Macaroni Cheese Dinner... Again

It's been a minute since I made this dinner for the children. If you know me AT ALL you will know there is one thing that I hate. I hate stress! I hate stress so much I can't even be bothered to mention it again in this post. Sometimes after a busy day such as today, all I want to do is make a quick meal that is as nutritious and delicious as possible. My basic rule is to get all the nutrients in there. There has to be some protein, carbs and especially veggies. In every plate. No I'm not going to give you the scientific insight on this.

So here are the ingredients.

1. Macaroni
2. Cheese
3. Red Onions
4. Peas

Quote Of The Day: It's Not Too Late - Joyce Meyer Ministries

It's not too late to be financially stable. It's not too late to go back to school. It's not too late to start a new career. It's not too late to be loved again. It's not too late to get healthy. It's not too late to get in shape. Everybody shout out, "It's not too late!" - Joyce Meyer Ministries.

I believe somebody somewhere needed to hear that. It's not too late to go back to the drawing board and start all over again. Right from the very beginning. Starting anew. Getting it right this time hallelujah!

Working moms have more successful daughters and more caring sons, Harvard Business School study says

Very interesting read from http://qz.com/

The guilt many working mothers confess to may be real, but it’s looking less and less warranted.

According to a working paper (pdf) published June 19 by the Harvard Business School, daughters of working mothers are more likely to be employed, hold supervisory positions, and earn more money than the daughters of women who don’t work outside the home. The researchers also found a statistically significant effect on the sons of working women, who are likely to spend more time caring for family members and doing household chores than are the sons of stay-at-home mothers.

Analyzing data from two dozen countries, the researchers concluded that the daughters of employed mothers are 4.5% more likely to be employed themselves than are the daughters of stay-at-home mothers. While this number may seem small, it is statistically significant at the 99% level, meaning there is less than a 1% chance that such a result is due to chance.

Even more surprising, says Kathleen McGinn, a professor at Harvard Business School and the lead author of the study, is the effect that working mothers have on their daughters’ chances of being a supervisor at work. “We did expect that it would effect employment but we didn’t expect that it would effect supervisory responsibility,” she tells Quartz.

Even after controlling for gender attitudes—to take beliefs regarding gender roles out of the equation—the researchers found that 33% of daughters of working mothers held supervisory roles, compared to only 25% of daughters of stay-at-home moms. “What I take away is that employed mothers create an environment in which their children’s attitudes on what is appropriate for girls to do and what is appropriate for boys to do is affected,” McGinn says.

McGinn says that the effects of working mothers were most striking in countries labeled in the study as “stagnating moderates,” a category that included both the US and the UK. These are countries where respondents generally held moderate views about gender issues and egalitarianism in 2002, and where the attitudes remained roughly the same 10 years later.

McGinn says that the income of daughters of working mothers in the US was $5,200 higher than that of
daughters of women who stayed at home, when controlling for gender attitudes.
Her message for working mothers is that being employed has long-lasting, positive effects on children. “When you go to work, you are helping your children understand that there are lots of opportunities for them,” McGinn says.

For The Love Of Rice

Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza glaberrima. Rice is a common food eaten by almost everyone in every continent around the world. Unless you have some sort of intolerance to rice, rice is a staple meal in every home and eaten at least once a week and it can be eaten with a myriad of sauces, curries and stews.

Diet aside, I personally love rice so here are 10 (I am sure there are many more) ways rice is eaten in Nigeria (Africa) and beyond.

1. Plain Rice
2. Jollof rice
3. Fried rice
4. Coconut rice
5. Ofada rice
6. Paella
7. Sushi (made with rice)
8. Vegetable rice
9. Chicken/lamb curry and rice
10. Risotto

I'm getting hungry now!

A little background on Rice!

Rice is a grain that is cultivated in more than 100 countries and is one of the world's staple foods. It can be grown on hillsides, in soil, or in irrigated waters, either deep or shallow. The different cultivation techniques, as well as cross-breeding, have resulted in thousands of varieties of rice, including sticky rices, wild rices and fragrant rices: all can be categorised as long-, medium- or short-grain. Long-grain rices such as basmati are thin, dainty and pointed. Medium-grain and short-grain rices are plumper, starchier and more absorbent. Examples of medium-grain rices are risotto and paella rices such as arborio and calasparra. Short-grain rices include pudding rice and sushi rice.

While many people in the West think of rice as a simple side dish, it's exciting when cooked as a meal in its own right and readily absorbs other flavours. In some cultures, rice is considered so sacred that it is served as the main part of the meal and cooked as plainly as possible.

14 Basic Principles On Building Your Business And Building Yourself

1. Be Organized. Organized minds are clear, and clear minds take action towards clear objectives, so get as organized and as clear as possible in your life and business affairs. Start with your desk and work area, then with your plans and actions. Schedule a written plan of your activities and objectives and stick with it the entire day. Do this the night before and you're ahead of 90 percent of the rest of the population--including your competitors.

2. Be Dedicated. Every day, do at least one thing you've been putting off. As the great Jim Rohn has said: "There are two types of pain you will go through in life--the pain of discipline and the pain of regret." Each moment you can decide which you'd rather experience. Successful people know that the pain of discipline is the price of their success. Start making it the price of yours.

3. Be Confident. Feel as good as possible and achieve a sense of well-being by just being quiet and contemplative for 15 minutes every day. Also, find a way to exercise at least 15 minutes every day. Both will boost positive feelings about yourself, which translates into a confidence that is attractive to others--including new customers and clients.

4. Be Appreciative. Tell your family, friends and business associates how much you appreciate them. Be generous with praise and compliments--and find more things people in your world are doing right, rather than doing wrong.

5. Be Optimistic. Leave past failures in the past and focus positively on your future. If you are a glass-half-empty person, start seeing the glass as being half-full. Life--and business--is more enjoyable that way.

6. Get Educated. Read something that improves your mind every day. Keep yourself away from unproductive people, activity and news. Become a master and an expert in your industry, and more business will flow to you over time simply on the basis of your credibility and expertise in your field.

7. Be Thrifty. Never pay full price. Consume less and never pay more tax than absolutely necessary. Don't be in business simply for tax reasons, but always recognize that the more resources you pay out to the treasury, the less you will have to put back into your business.

8. Be Sociable. Be charming and agreeable. Never speak badly of anyone. You never know if your next big client or customer is within earshot of something you have to say. Make it positive, and you'll never have to worry about negative consequences.

9. Be Alert. Open yourself to new ideas, experiences and people who can teach you something new--and stay out of ruts and routines. This is one of the best ways to be aware and focused on new opportunities. Remember that some of the greatest product breakthroughs have come from people recognizing the value of interesting and unique innovations.

10. Be Dependable. Meet all of your business, social and moral obligations punctually, honestly and honorably. If you are the "go to" person or the "go to" business, you'll never have to worry about having to generate extra leads or word-of-mouth referrals.

11. Be Decisive. Make a decision right now. My general rule is that if I'm 80 percent certain, the extra 20 percent of my indecisiveness is a mixture of emotions based on both excitement and fear. My attitude is to let excitement win more times than not. Is it 100 percent successful every time? No. But then again, nothing ever is. All I know is that I've had a lot more fun when I've let excitement win.

12. Be Human. Remember to experience the journey as well as the results. It's absolutely necessary to keep your attention focused on your goals, but don't miss out on all the great experiences going on around you right now. After all, when you get to your destination, you'll realize that some of the greatest lessons learned and values gained were found in the trip there.

13. Be Tough. Demand only the highest and best standards of everyone you surround yourself with.and that includes setting, demanding and being accountable for high standards for yourself. Remember that as the leader goes, so goes the organization. And if you are truly leading, you have to be firm and consistent in setting, establishing and following your own "rules of the game."

14. Give and You Shall Receive. Give the thing you want most and you'll be amazed at what you get in return. See all opportunities as a way to give and share and add value, and you'll see your efforts multiplied in ways you couldn't have imagined, for the greater good of you, your company and your customers.

Over time, you'll discover that to truly build up your business, you'll have to build up yourself as well. Think of your credo as guiding principles that will help steer you toward success.

Today's Words Of Wisdom

Permit me to give you these words of wisdom. It will also be a great blessing to you. Please read and meditate on them:

1. ON EARNING:
Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second chance.

2. ON SPENDING:
If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.

3. ON SAVINGS:
Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.

4. ON TAKING RISK:
Never test the depth of a river with both feet.

5. ON INVESTMENT:
Do not put all eggs in one basket.

6. ON EXPECTATIONS:
Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.

7. IF YOU are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present. Past is a waste paper. Present is a newspaper and future is a question paper.

8. WHEN bad things happen in your life you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you or you can let it strengthen you.

9. EMPTY pockets teach you a million things in life but full pockets spoil you in a million ways.

10. OUR EYES are in the front because it is more important to look ahead than to look back.

11. WE USED a pencil when we were small but now we use pens... do you know why? Because mistakes in childhood can be erased but not now.
So read and write carefully otherwise life will be a tissue paper. Hope you are blessed. Bless others.

Laughing Hysterically In Anticipation Of My Very Own Isaac

6 years ago, I went looking for a message or words of encouragement for someone very dear to me to hold on to and certainly look forward to because she was going through a very challenging period. To the glory of God, she now has a reason to smile again and God restored to get all she lost. Fast forward to now, as I was scrolling through my draft messages in my inbox I came across this. Somehow I feel my spirit made me save that particular message (I had sent her quite a few), not for anyone else, but for myself, 6 years on. It's like I knew I would come across it again and it will be meaningful and beneficial at the exact time I refer to it. So today I did just that.

I call it "Laughing Hysterically In Anticipation Of My Very Own Isaac!"

Not only does God want you to possess your possessions, but He also wants you to retain the blessings He has bestowed upon you. The only way to make your blessing to be permanent is to continue to be unrelenting in prayer.
Psalm 147:13: "For he has strengthened the bars of thy gate; he has blessed thy children within thee."
One of the blessings of serving God is that there will be no miscarriage or barrenness in the land.
Exodus 23:25,26: "And ye shall serve Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; a I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number thy days will I fulfil"
God has many blessings for His children but practically all of them are hinged on obedience and service.  God says He will strengthen the bars of your gate.  This means that the Lord Himself will strengthen the entrance, the door of your womb.  God will fortify your womb so that you can carry your baby nine months and be delivered safely.  God says, "Apart from fortifying your womb, I will bless your children within you."  This means that the baby you are carrying in your womb will not die but live to declare the works of God.  To bless means to prosper.  God will cause the baby in your womb to prosper, to live.
Our God is faithful! Psalm 34:5 says, "They looked unto Him and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed"  Who are you looking unto?  The doctor, the specialist or your pastor? Change your focus today.  Look unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of your faith(Hebrews 12:2).  You will not be ashamed, He will lighten your face with joy.  At the appointed time He will give you your Isaac. You will indeed laugh!

9 Common Traits Of Happy People

Happiness. It’s the term thrown around more often than any other when people are asked what they aspire to most in life. A loving partner, a fun high-paying job, and endless world travel are also among some of the most common answers, however, all of these are preference-based means to the one ultimate end, which is happiness. Being so sought-after, I thought I’d put together a list of traits that seem to be common to happy people – and I’m talking about the genuinely happy people, not just those who appear to be so on the surface.
In compiling this list I’m not suggesting that these are the only keys to happiness, I simply hope to shed light on some common characteristics I’ve noticed.

1. Love Themselves For Who They Are

On the surface this may sound incredibly egotistical, but by it I simply mean that they are truly comfortable in their own shoes. They accept and embrace themselves physically, they maintain their true character traits regardless of whether or not they receive approval for them, and they work to make the best of the human experience they are living – rather than wallow in what others would define as weaknesses or shortcomings.

2. See Relationships As An Extension To, Rather Than The Basis Of, The Human Experience

Relationships, whether friendly, familial, or romantic, are certainly one of the greatest parts of the human experience. However, far too many of us let their presence or absence, and even more so the value we attribute to them, dictate our overall happiness in life. I’ve found that genuinely happy people tend to find complete contentment within themselves, and see all relationships as the awesome extension to their self-content. It’s often when we are not looking for others to fill a particular void, or to make us feel a certain way, that most of our truest and most valuable relationships are formed.

3. Embrace Change

Life is a constant lesson and happy people tend to be well aware of that. Not only are they always open to change, but they truly listen to suggestions, respect and consider all opinions, and take criticism constructively rather than offensively.

4. Celebrate Rather Than Compare Themselves To The Accomplishments Of Others

Jealousy is a killer, and as Gary Allan once said, “You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars.” We are all capable of accomplishing anything in this life and are the only ones that are going to find the drive within ourselves to do it. Rather than observe and compare to those who have accomplished, the truly happy tend to celebrate it and use it as motivation to accomplish things within their own lives.

5. Never Dwell In Being A Victim

We’ve all been the so-called “victim” to several things in life, whether it be an unexpected break-up, getting fired from a job, or even something as serious as the recipient of domestic abuse. Truly happy people tend to be those who choose not to dwell in it. They choose to let the victimization strengthen them, rather than wear it as a badge of weakness or as the thing that makes them consistently worthy of receiving sympathy.

6. They Live In The Present

As fun as reminiscing about the past or fantasizing about the future can be, nothing will ever be done in anything but the present and happy people tend to realize that. Not only that, they tend to use that knowledge as motivation to make the most of each and every moment. In addition to being motivating, presence can also come in handy for truly appreciating those moments of relaxation, allowing yourself to be truly in them rather than distracted by future concerns.

7. Trust That Everything Happens For A Reason

This can very easily be paired with the choice to not be a victim, but happy people tend to trust the process and existence of everything in their life. They know that nothing is ever too big to handle and choose to embrace what life is currently throwing at them rather than cowering at the sight of it.

8. They Don’t Let Money Dictate Their Lives

Nobody is denying that in this world right now we all need money to exist, and as a result, many of us spend the bulk of our lives doing things that help us earn it. What I’ve found to differentiate happy people is that they don’t let money be the ultimate dictator in their life. They still make sensible choices within their means, but they never let money: A) prevent them from pursuing a so-called “risky” passion, B) be the factor that is blamed for why their life is so miserable, C) complain about how little they have. There are creative ways to do everything in this world, and seeing money as only being possible to make in the standard ways is the most crippling thing to that creativity.

9. Look Within For Solutions

One of the most powerful realizations a genuinely happy person will often operate based on is “change starts within.” The empowerment that comes as a result of not only realizing this but even more so in using it as the backbone to everything in life can be quite remarkable. There are thousands of books, mantras, techniques and practices out there that can all help us to find solutions to so many things in life, but they all require one thing to truly be serviceable: the consciousness to support them.

It's Only Temporary

Today’s Scripture
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
(2 Corinthians 4:17, NIV)

It’s Only Temporary

Your troubles and trials in this life are only temporary. In fact, today’s verse tells us they are momentary. Compared with eternity, our troubles don’t last long at all. As you stand strong in faith during times of adversity, Scripture says that you are achieving eternal glory. When you confess your trust and reliance on God, you are passing the test.

If you are in the middle of tough times today, look to Jesus! The Bible says that He is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He is the one who deposits faith in your heart and then tends to it until it is fully developed. Your part is to keep your heart open and choose words of faith and victory.

Remember, your words set the course for your life. Confess your faith in the Father. Set your mind on Him. Look for His hand moving in your life. Focus on that eternal glory because your troubles here are only temporary!

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for working Your eternal glory in me. I cast my cares on You, knowing that my trials and troubles are only temporary. Thank You for Your eternal blessing on my life today and always in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

We Are Kings And Queens

It's important to remind ourselves that we were Kings and Queens before slavery. Although not taught in our history classes parents can predate history textbooks and teach our young kids our story. Beginning, Middle and now! Black is beautiful. Our story, colourful.

Swimming: The Peak Of My Day!

had a lovely time today. I did the usual school runs, playgroup, lunch, laundry, then after school closing time we surprised my first daughter with a trip to the swimming pool!!!! It was so amazing because the pool was practically empty and unlike the usual weekend madness at the pool, it was so clean.

We had an awesome time on the water slides! After swimming we went back to my sisters house for dinner before heading home. So a big thanks to my big sis for making us do something out of the ordinary on a school evening.

So that was the peak of my day. Spending quality time with my kids, my sis and my nephew!!!

Be Inspired
