"An Act Of True Love Will Thaw A Frozen Heart"
The Saturday night this movie came out in London some time in November or December 2013, we took the children to the cinema to watch it. Like any other children's movie, Disney or otherwise I was not fazed although I did come out thinking this was the darkest Disney movie I had watched in years. I don't know why, I just felt really sad up until the end when Anna came back to life. When Anna was cut off from her sister and the way their parents died made me tear you-eyed. The only wow moment I had that night was when Elsa built her ice castle. But it's a Disney big budget movie so of course the whole world was buzzing about Frozen.
On the Sunday we found ourselves on the train taking our children to the Disney Store on Oxford Steet. We left with a deep hole in our pockets because going to a Disney store is almost like going to Disneyland. We came it with a lot of Frozen Merchandise to include pencils, sharpeners, colouring sets, notepads, cups and their most prized possession, Elsa's dress.
Almost two years since its first release, I have to say Frozen has completely taken over my box set. My youngest daughter insists on watching it twice a day. Let me make something clear. My youngest daughter does not watch television. She is the only child I know in the whole world (I admit, I don't know that many), that does not care to watch television. You can be engrossed in any cartoon and she will be in the same room with you and she will not watch it. To date, she is yet to sit down for 10 minutes to watch anything on television. That of course was until Frozen came on to Sky Movies. Her sisters love watching Frozen in their Elsa's dress, just like any other cartoon or movie, but this is a moment in history for me. She is in 2 and yet, she knows all the words to the whole movie. I'm impressed.
Just to add my two cents to the movie, having watched it a million times and had ALL the songs sung to me everyday, it has grown on me. I love the message it conveys to young people. An act of true love doesn't necessarily have to be between a prince and his princess. Love can be found just under your nose, in your family, with your sister. And because I have a sister, I know the feeling. Also, in its own way, it teaches children that they don't need to look for love outside. Love is always standing right next to them. I love stories that are meaningful, realistic and has the element of sisterhood in them.
Be Inspired
xoxo
