That is all is should be. That is all you will ever need.
There is a popular saying that goes, two is company and three a crowd. Well, when it comes to a Christian marriage, the only third person you should be desperate to invite into your marriage from the beginning is our Lord Jesus Christ. You do not. I repeat. You do not need ANYONE ELSE in that marriage with you. God's ultimate plan is for your marriage to be a successful one so inviting Him in is only inviting a wealth of happiness into your home.
If you are married, put our Lord Jesus Christ first. Your marriage will be better than you ever thought possible. Marriage is the only institution that was set up and carefully designed by God and as such, we should not only want him, but we should understand how much we need him on a daily basis. Our Lord is interested and should be involved in every area of our lives including our Holy Matrimony.
If you don't already have God walking with you in your marriage, here are a few tips to help you get started.
1. Pray. Prayer is the master key! The only way to get used to it is by starting it. No room for excuses here.
2. Study the word of God. Together! Two heads are better than one. You could learn something from studying the word and teaching other and encouraging each other in the God's word.
3. Attend Church services together including Bible study classes.
4. Grow and learn together. It is important to work together as a couple. It could be anything from cooking together to exploring the history of a country together. As you work together, you become more unified and understand each other more.
4. Remain focussed. Never lose focus of why you are doing all the above. You don't have to necessarily wait for a crisis in your marriage before you decide you need Christ in it. But if you are, you know He is the first and only solution.
5. Keep the love alive. God wants your marriage to work. You keep your love alive by continually loving each other. Seeing great things in your other half. See the God that is working in them. You got married for a reason. It was for love. If the love is fading, there are so many ways to keep reviving your love and keeping it fresh. We can discuss that in another post.
Try God.
Be Inspired
