Honestly Speaking!

These are my notes from a Sunday service. It is amazing because irrespective of the time or date you were taught, what you learn in every service is to become a part of you and you are to apply it in your daily life.

hon·es·ty
noun
  1. 1
    the quality of being honest.
    synonyms:integrityuprightness
    honorableness, honor
    morality, morals, ethics
    principles, high
    principles,
    righteousness, right-
    mindedness

As children of God we have to exhibit characters of honesty, truthfulness, trustworthy, sincerity, reliability, faithful. So that we also will be able to teach others
2 Timothy 2:2
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Verse 20: 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

If man purges himself, he will be used for a good purpose.

When we purge ourselves, we will be ready and fit for the master's use. In otherwords, you need to be where God wants you to be so he can use you for his glory. You need to find yourself doing the things of God. God had to prepare David for his meeting with Goliath. When the time comes for whatever great thing God has in mind for us, we are going to be ready because we have prepared ourselves.

You can't be honest in one part and not honest in other things
Galatians 5: speaks of the fruits of the spirit. As children of God, God wants us to be honest people.
Someone who is not honest will be corrupt, prevaricating(purposely ambiguous- not clear to deceive someone else). We shouldn't be mendacious (lying).

Our heart also needs to be ready for the use of God. Are you someone that can be easily corrected? Can you yield yourself to God? God wants us to be honest and yielding so we are always ready to be used by Him.

Does having an honest heart mean all your actions will be perfect? No. Because we are still growing and developing. God looks at the heart. Look at David. A man after God's heart. He was always yielding towards God. David had a perfect heart towards God. Let our hearts still be mouldable/ let us be willing to accept change/correction. That is a characteristic of a honest heart. It is possible for someone to make an error because we are still perfecting ourselves every day. When you have the heart of unwillingness, it is equal to rebelling.

Can a perfect heart be unwilling in the kingdom of God? No. No one with a perfect heart can be unwilling to do the things of God.
2 Chronicles 25:1-2
1. Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.

You can have a perfect heart when you really love God. God looks at our heart.

2 Chronicles 12:13
13 So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. 14 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the Lord.

He didn't make up his mind to follow after God.

There are ways to judge a perfect heart.
A perfect heart can be judged with several things
1. Provocation (are you easily provoked when it comes to the things of God)
2. Money (does money change your perception when money comes. Are you going to turn your back from God when you get the money you have been praying for?)
3. Power

When you have a honest heart, people around you will know. In whatever you do, you need to have a honest heart.

One thing to always remember is .... God looks for honest people.

Be Inspired
xoxo
